A Whole Lot of Love

This year for Valentine's Day, I decided to do a countdown with crafts and food for the boys.  I started on the first with a photo in each bag with what we were going to do for the day.  It was all good in theory, but some days just didn't happen.  I was surprised with how much they looked forward to each day, especially Lucas.  The boys fought over who would get to open the bag each morning. 

The giant cookie was a hit.  We actually ended up making this one twice because they loved it so much.

We made giant Hershey Kiss Rice Krispy Treats.  I didn't realize how easy Rice Krispy treats were to make.  I can eat a whole pan of them.  It might be dangerous!

 

These were easy to do.  Just use greased funnels and smash the Rice Krispy Treats while they are still gooey.  Let them harden inside the funnel and wrap them up.

This one ended up being a flop.  It was supposed to be with wax paper, but I was out.  I used parchment paper instead, but it didn't work.  I ended up with a big goop of melted crayon on my iron and ironing board.  We'll try it again with the correct supplies.

Valentine's Dessert Pizza

This ended up making my kitchen a disaster area.  Bray and Kate came over for the afternoon and helped too.  It was all from scratch, but if I had more sense I would have just used a brownie mix and premade frosting.  Oh well, they had fun!

 

These two were GREAT helpers!  Lucas loves to help cook.  He told me he was now going to open a restaurant called "The Ninja Slice."  I thought it was a great name, and he came up with that name all on his own.  He said I could eat there for free.

 On Valentine's Day, the homeschool group went to Life Care to deliver Valentines to the residents. 

 

 

We went over to visit with Della Mae in Assisted Living.

I had a much needed date night with Landon.  I couldn't have a better husband makes me feel loved every single day!

Lane's First Haircut

Lane was in desperate need of a haircut, however I put it off for longer than I should have because I had a feeling it wouldn't be an easy task.  I was right!  He threw a fit and had to be held down.  It's a miracle he didn't come out gapped to the skull.  Becky did a GREAT job with that little wiggler☺ 

He's all smiles at first!

 

So far, so good.

 

The boys said Lane's hair looked like Gollum's from Lord of the Rings.

She finally had to just hold his head while we held down his arms.

365 Photo Project: January Photos

Well, I changed my mind.  I said in December that I wasn't going to do this project this year, but I was so used to taking a photo a day for a whole year.  I found myself taking photos anyway.  So, here are this month's photos...

Rebecca hosted a New Year's party.  She decorated and everything!  It was really festive and we enjoyed playing hours of Tripoly!

I should have gotten this at the beginning of the school year.  Logan said math was actually fun using these multiplication wrap-ups I ordered from Usborne Books.

Our book this week was set in Italy.  We made a salt dough map of the country.

This was heavenly!  We made some gelato and it tasted like creme brulee ice cream!!  I didn't have an ice cream maker so Amanda Randolph came over with the kids to make it together.  I will have to get an ice cream maker myself to make this again.  It was easier than I thought it would be.
