Maine Girl's Trip

This was an incredible trip when some fantastic people.  It could not have been any better.  Everything seemed to fall into place and we were all so overwhelmed by the beauty all around.  Maine was a state that none of us had seen so it was a new experience for each of us.  We were appreciative of Beth Peek for giving us lots of help on the best locations to visit.

We flew to Boston and got a rental car there.  We spent a little time walking around there and eating lunch in the oldest restaurant in America.  I would love to come back to Boston to see more of it with my family.  I went in high school, but I didn't really appreciate history then so I didn't take it all in like I would now.

This cornbread was amazing and worth the trip to Boston.

The first day we drove to Rockland, Maine which was about a four hour drive.  On the way, we stopped in Kennebunkport, Maine and we arrived just before sunset.  We were in awe of the beauty!

We spent the night at Rockland Harbor Hotel in Rockland, Maine.

The next morning, we went to Marshall Point Lighthouse, the location for the scene in Forrest Gump where he runs to one end of the country to the other.

We drove to another lighthouse called Rockland Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse.  We were amazed at the walkway to get out to the lighthouse.  It was seven-eighths of a mile out into the water and made of massive blocks of granite.  It was not an easy stroll because they rocks were uneven with gaps.  I was fearful I would trip and bust my face.

We were all looking forward to eating Maine lobster.  We had lunch at a charming restaurant with incredible views of the harbor.  After our trek out to the lighthouse, we had worked up an appetite and looked forward to eating lobster rolls.

After lunch we drove to Maiden's Cliff in Camden for a hike that was recommended.  It certainly did not disappoint.  Actually, this was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip.  When we got to the top, we ended up breaking out into an impromptu worship service with singing, reading scripture, and prayer.  It was incredibly moving as we were each in awe of God's creation.  It was such a blessing to be able to share this experience with women who each love the Lord.

Bar Harbor:

We had another hotel booked for our stay in Bar Harbor but they sold all their rooms.  We ended up getting sent to a nicer hotel for the goof.  It worked out well for us because this was much nicer than we had originally booked.

The views here was so unbelievable.

Jordan's Pond was a beautiful place for a picnic lunch.

There is simply no way to capture Cadillac Mountain in a photo.

Since Sylinia is obsessed with flowers, we went to a garden.  :)

This was a first for me, and I required assistance.  Even though it was amazing flavor, I won't be doing this again.  I'll order the lazy man's lobster in the future.

Breakfast in Bar Harbor then on to Portland.  This ended up being our only rainy day and it worked out perfectly because there were several hours of traveling on this day.  Having a rainy day made it feel like the day wasn't wasted in the car.

We decided to try something new for all of us.  We went to a hot yoga class.  This definitely provided lots of laughs for us.

Our last stop was to see another lighthouse and we grabbed a lobster roll before heading to the airport.
